New Hampshire’s Filotimo Casino to Expand, Get New Name
In Dover, New Hampshire, a bowling alley will shortly close and be replaced by a neighboring casino.
After the expansion, the casino, which is currently known as Filotimo Casino, will become Revo Casino and Social House, according to Foster's Daily Democrat, a New Hampshire news source.
The new area will probably undergo renovations in the summer and offer restaurants, entertainment, and gaming.
The DraftKings sportsbook will remain located in the refurbished casino. In 2021, the sports betting department opened at the Filotimo Casino in Dover.
Customer feedback and the gaming property's ongoing dedication to charitable giving are the driving forces for the casino expansion.
Charitable Casino
“As a charitable gaming facility our mission is to help area charities raise funds,” a statement from the owner of the bowling alley and casino, the New Hampshire Group (NHG), said in a statement quoted by the Daily Democrat. “This expansion will allow our charitable partners to increase their revenue while additionally, providing our guests with a new dining concept, live entertainment space, and radio broadcast studio with more information coming soon.”
Filotimo Casino is obligated to donate to charities in its capacity as a charitable casino. NHG gave more than $9 million to over 300 New Hampshire NGOs that were approved in 2023.
It was recently revealed by New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) that charitable casinos in the state are usually required to send 35 percent of their earnings to nonprofit organizations that have been certified by the state.
Bowling Alley's loss
This week saw the removal of an arcade and a few lanes from the Dover Bowl bowling alley. The Shaws Plaza Shopping Center in Dover is home to the alley, which will formally close on April 29.
Bob Carrier, the mayor of Dover, regrets the passing of a beloved and historic bowling alley.
"The thing I’ll say is, where are we headed? You shut that down, there’s no more bowling, and that pretty much eliminates those activities for young kids,” Carrier told the Daily Democrat. “It’s sad, it really is.”
“I’m sorry to see something like that closed because it’s good, clean fun,” the mayor continued in his statement about Dover Bowl. “Good, family, recreational fun.”
NHG is the owner of Wonder Casino in Keene, Lebanon Poker Room & Casino, and Filotimo Casino & DraftKings Sportsbooks in Manchester and Dover.
Parent firm Peninsula Pacific Entertainment (P2E) owns and operates NHG and the four casinos. Brent Stevens introduced P2E in 1999.
