Casino Crime Roundup: Greektown Casino Suspect Headbutts State Trooper
After headbutting a Michigan state trooper on Saturday morning, a "highly intoxicated" patron of Detroit's Hollywood Casino at Greektown was taken into custody, according to authorities.
The 25-year-old unidentified suspect was being led from the casino property in Durand, Michigan.
Two good Samaritans and casino security personnel were helping the inebriated man. However, he was heavy to move and had fallen to the ground several times.
The guest was seen in the lobby by Michigan state troopers who were on patrol, according to the local news source MLive.
At around two in the morning, the troopers took over and started transporting the man to a neighboring hotel where he had made a room rental.He "intentionally headbutted one of the troopers in the face" en route, the arrest report states.
The guy was so drunk that the troopers took him to Detroit Receiving Hospital before charging him.
He was taken to the Detroit Detention Center once his health permitted it.
Arrests Follow $300K Cheating Scheme
Following a scheme to cheat in baccarat at Pennsylvania's Wind Creek Bethlehem Casino, four men were accused last week. Authorities disclosed that the players managed to defraud the gambling establishment of approximately $300,000.
It was revealed that the four suspects were Zu Lin, 37; Yuhan Hu, 28; Liping Zhou, 51; and Zhencan Chen, 33. The four Illinois residents were all taken into custody on suspicion of belonging to a corrupt organization.
The accused instigator of the plot, Qingyong Zhang, 38, and Fuxiang Liu, 50, were named as additional suspects.Their addresses were unknown at the time.
Zhang is said to have engaged in card and body positioning trickery. Police added that Zhang also used a cell phone and thumbed the corners of cards to deceive.
LehighValleyLive.com, a local news source, claims that Zhang instructed his partners to up their wagers when the cards were in his favor. According to the cops, each player won on six hands.
Zhang and Liu fled the casino after four of the accused started playing other games after they won. According to investigators, Hu later told them that Zhang had given him $5,000 in exchange for his participation in the scheme.
Zhang received money from participating in the fraud, according to the authorities.
After posting a $100,000 bond apiece, Lin, Hu, and Chen were freed from detention. Zhou stayed behind in Northampton County Prison in Pennsylvania. As of late last week, Liu and Zhang were being sought by the authorities.
According to investigators, it was discovered that Hu and Zhou participated in casino scams in other states.
